Publisher William Reed, organiser of the Farm Shop & Deli Show, to launch dedicated specialist food newsletter

Britain's specialist food retailers and suppliers are among the nation's most innovative and agile businesses.

Farm shops, delicatessens, food halls and other specialist retailers often spearhead the trends and developments that shape mainstream food retail, yet much of their inspiring work has gone unreported. Until now.

From this month, The Grocer is ramping up its coverage of the specialist food market – in conjunction with the Farm Shop & Deli Show.

Through year-round engagement with specialist food retailers and the businesses that supply them, The Grocer will carry news stories, opinion pieces, profiles, spotlights and other features to inspire and inform; while William Reed is also launching a dedicated monthly Farm Shop & Deli News email newsletter, and will host additional content including videos and webinars, on the Farm Shop & Deli Show website.

The Grocer's coverage will include coverage of craft bakers, butchers, cheesemongers, delicatessens, farm shops, fishmongers, food halls, health food shops, greengrocers and village stores.

While William Reed has established an excellent relationship with the specialist food market through its Farm Shop & Deli Show and associated Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards, the move marks a step-change in the company's coverage of the sector.

Adam Leyland, editor-in-chief of The Grocer said: "The Grocer has always aimed to cover the entire grocery retail market but I am excited and delighted that The Grocer is investing in additional coverage of this inspirational and aspirational part of the UK food and drink scene.

“As an avowed foodie, it’s a sector close to my heart, but it’s also a source of constant inspiration. I’m constantly amazed at the ability of specialist retailers and suppliers to spot opportunities and, as the past 14 months has amply demonstrated, to adapt and evolve at pace, delighting customers and serving their communities as circumstance demands."

"The Grocer team looks forward to telling their stories."

Leyland's words were echoed by William Reed commercial director Mat Rose.

"William Reed has a proud history of working with the specialist food sector to create market-leading events including Farm Shop & Deli Show, Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards as well as the newly launched Farm Shop & Deli Meat Product Awards" he said.

"This step-change in editorial coverage reinforces our commitment to this vibrant industry and will strengthen our relationship with the individuals and businesses that drive its success."
