A successful product is never judged on taste or appearance alone. The Farm Shop & Deli Product Awards take a detailed approach, reviewing every aspect of a product including:
- Taste and sensory appeal
- Branding and packaging
- Commercial Practicality
- Suitability for independent specialist retail
This careful judging process ensures that each winning product is not only high quality but also well‑suited for long‑term success in independent retail. Each product is judged on its own merit, not compared with others; Bronze, Silver and Gold awards are given based only on the quality and potential of each product.
Judging for the 2026 awards began in early February, bringing together an esteemed panel of industry experts from across the specialist retail sector. This year, the panel of judges included well-known retailers and wholesalers, such as Cress Co, Cotswold Fayre, Diverse Fine Food, Booths, Fortnum & Mason and TEALS Farm Shop, whose respected expertise brings substantial weight and trust to the awards. Their combined expertise ensures that every product is evaluated with commercial insight and with a passion for the specialty food sector.
Commenting on the awards, Amy Carr, Senior Events Executive for Exhibitions at William Reed said: “The awards provide producers with invaluable feedback from the retailers and wholesalers who understand the market best.
