Chair of Judges Nigel Barden with 2016 Farm Shop & Deli Retailer of the Year Arthur Howells and co-chair of Judges Elaine Lemm
Now in its fourth year, Farm Shop & Deli Awards recognise the very best standards in the UK’s independent, speciality retail market. With an expert panel of judges joining Nigel Barden, Chair of Judges, the Awards will celebrate the highest levels of service, product knowledge, initiative, innovation and community involvement, offered by our heroes of the high-street.
Following resounding success since its launch three years ago, the Farm Shop & Deli Awards have received over 1,000 entries from the specialist independent retail market, with nearly 17,000 consumer votes and over 7,000 online votes registered.
It’s not too late to celebrate your speciality – entry deadline extended!
As the busy summer holiday period draws to an end, the Farm Shop & Deli Awards have extended their entry deadline by two weeks to Friday 30 September, to provide those who have not yet entered to get involved and submit their entries.
With just over 2 weeks left to enter, category awards are up for grabs across 12 different specialisms with nine regional awards also available - plus the coveted ‘Farm Shop & Deli Retailer of the Year’. As the online consumer voting stage closes on 31st October, the sooner retailers submit their entry the longer they will have to engage with their customers and drive their online consumer votes which will help decide the category, regional and overall Farm Shop & Deli Retailer of the Year Award winners.
What the judges look for
Every November finds Food & Drink Journalist/Broadcaster Nigel Barden, Chair of judges, and Food Writer and Co-chair of judges, Elaine Lemm joined by their team of judges, which includes experts from the world of speciality retail, fine food and food media, to evaluate the online entries and consumer votes for the Farm Shop & Deli Awards.
Faced with the high standard of entries they receive for category, regional and overall ‘Farm Shop & Deli Retailer of the Year’, it is a difficult task for them to whittle down the finalists before commencing their ‘secret visits’. Visit farmshopanddelishow.co.uk/enter-the-awards to watch a video and find out what they look for in an entry and what made Arthur Howell a worthy winner in 2016.
The category, regional and Farm Shop & Deli Retailer of the Year 2017 winners will be announced at Farm Shop & Deli Show on 24 April 2017 at Birmingham’s NEC.
