Booths posts profits for the first time since 2015
Supermarket chain Booths has returned to the black for the first time since 2015 after Covid demand drove an “extraordinary” bump in profits. The retailer reported pre-tax profits of £1.9m for the 12 months to March 2021 compared to a £4.1 million loss the previous year.

Plastic-free chewing gum brand Nuud has pulled in a £750k cash injection in a funding round led by the founders of Candy Kittens. The confectionery challenger’s founders Jamie Laing and Ed Williams led a funding round for the gum startup.

More than two thirds of people want clear production method labelling on meat and dairy products, a new survey of UK consumers has revealed. Of 1,990 people polled last month, 68% agreed that labels should show the conditions animals had been reared in.
