Perthshire-based business beat established competition from all around the UK to scoop 3 prestigious Farm Shop & Deli awards.

The Crieff Food Company, based in rural Perthshire, struck gold THREE times at this year’s UK Farm Shop and Deli Awards. Facing stiff competition from established Food Halls around Britain, The Crieff Food Company was awarded Best UK Food Hall, Best Newcomer and Scottish Regional Winner.

Commenting on the win, Jamie Landale (Chief Executive of The Crieff Food Company) said:
“We are amazed, over the moon, jumping for joy and amazed again to have won in three categories. We’re a young and growing business and we decided to enter to see how we compared against the ‘big boys’ of the Food Hall world. To be awarded Best Food Hall in Britain is a real boost for both us and the beautiful town of Crieff where we are based. To also be named best Newcomer and Scottish Regional winner is the icing on the locally-produced cake. Huge thanks go to our amazing team for all of their hard work, our network of local suppliers and, of course, our loyal customers who believe in our ‘Shop Local’ ethos”.

Mr Landale and his team put their success down to their culture of “Let’s go local”. The Crieff Food Company works with over 80 local suppliers, showcasing their high-quality produce in the Food Hall, Gift Hall and café at The Crieff Food Company, located in the centre of Crieff. In announcing The Crieff Food Company as winners of UK Food Hall of the year, the Judges commented:

“There’s a huge focus on local sourcing, particularly in their excellent butchery department, combined with an enticing store front. They face big existential challenges with a can-do attitude.”

This year’s awards were announced remotely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with plans in place to hold a Winners’ celebration event at the NEC on 8th September.

The ongoing lockdown has also resulted in temporary operational changes at The Crieff Food Company. Whilst the Café and Gift Hall are closed, the Food Hall remains open for business, serving the local community of Crieff and Strathearn with essential supplies – with strict social distancing and hygiene measures implemented. It has also introduced a home delivery service and innovative “Pick & Go” collection service, which allows customers to phone through their orders then pick them up from outside the store.
