Top tips for submitting an award-winning entry

1. PREPARATION

Before you start your online entry, make sure you take a look at the entry questions and supporting documents needed in advance, so you can prepare everything before you log in. You can return to the online entry as many times as you like before you hit submit.

The Farm Shop & Deli Awards are FREE to enter.

For 2022 our reduced online entry form only includes the below two questions:

Tell us what initiatives you have implemented to support the growth of your business, as well as drive the theme of sustainability(up to 500 words). Mandatory question

Retailers are encouraged to add testimonials as part of their answer from customers and suppliers to support their entry(up to 300 words). Optional question

To commence your entry you will be asked to set up an account for the online entry system, including your contact information. Once you have completed that the following steps are required:

3. Find out what judges are looking for in a winning entry.

For 2022 the Retailer Awards are placing more emphasis on retailers who are doing their part to create a better world through sustainable initiatives, whilst supporting their customers, communities and suppliers.

The retailers will be judged by their region, and not category.

To help prepare your answers, please see below tips on what the judges will be looking for evidence of in winning entries:

Top tips: The judges will be looking for evidence of some of the following activities: 

Innovation and where you’ve had to adapt your business during the unprecedented past 12-18 months.

Steps you have introduced to become a more sustainable business (examples could be in relation to packaging, recycle/reuse, waste, energy). Read our 'Small Green Steps' blog here.

How these have supported your customers, suppliers and community?

  •  

Where relevant, please share information on how this has impacted your business financially, using percentage growth and figures. These will be kept strictly private and this will be relayed to our judges.

How you are looking after your staff?

Top tips:

  •  

Start early, compile testimonials from your customers and suppliers that support the answer you have provided for the mandatory question.

Include whether they are from a supplier or customer.

Include staff testimonials to support your answers, especially if you have included how you have looked after them in your previous answer.

6. Upload, Check then Submit

Once you are happy with your entry and have uploaded your photographs, remember to 'Complete your entry'
