Congratulations to the winner of this year's Great New Idea competition, Boozy Udders Ltd, who were awarded Best New Idea accolade at Farm Shop & Deli Show for its range of cocktail inspired luxury ice-creams

Boozy Udder lo resThe range features nine decadent flavours including Margarita, Jamaican Rum Punch, Pina Colada, Chocolate Brandy Alexander and Whiskey Mac Daddy.

The award was presented to Sarah Ward, Chief Udder and Founder by Richard Fox, acclaimed author, chef and broadcaster and Farm Shop & Deli Show Event Director Jack Halliday.

Speaking at the presentation, Ward said: “I am flabbergasted to win because this began as a really fun experiment. I think most good things start with a margarita.

“We started less than two years ago and only began by approaching delis and farm shops one year ago so this is fantastic. It is wonderful to have something that you think is great to be liked by someone else too. It's just getting better and better.”

Boozy Udders Cocktail Ice Cream uses carefully sourced spirits and liqueurs for each recipe. For example, its Whiskey Mac Daddy contains only Single Malt, while liqueurs are chosen for their complexity and rich, deep flavours. The company also offers limited edition flavours for each season, with its Passion Fruit Porn Star and Strawberry Daiquiri hitting the shelves in the summer months.

The Great New Idea competition, which invited exhibitors to put forward their best innovations of the last six months, saw over 100 entries, with the winner announced at a presentation at the NEC during the show. A shortlist of three finalists was chosen, voted for by visitors to the show, as well as other members of the industry, ahead of the event.
